Steering wheel gap

I’m at a loss. 66 F100. New cab mounts and bushings. Automatic with power steering. Huge gap between wheel and column. The bracket on the under side of dash is pushed up as far as it can go. Any ideas?

Are your new mounts and bushings somehow taller than the original?

If your lower column bearing is shot the column housing will creep down creating the gap.

Could be the lower column bearing as Christmas said, except in the case of worn lower column bearing, upward stress is put on the rag joint. As it stretches, the steering shaft moves upwards creating a bigger and bigger gap. If bearing is good then can be adjusted by pushing down on the steering wheel and tightening the clamp at the bearing. New cab mounts may just mean needs adjusting.
