With low gas and a known passenger side leak (pictured), I experienced the engine shutting off after going up a slight grade. Hard start that morning with a cloud of white smoke. Degas bottle has been clean and radiator hose is appropriately firm yet pliable.
At this point, no crank/turnover at all and power steering locked. All lights and electronics work. Injectors buzz for several seconds when ON.
First, if you've got gas in the truck, you've got a problem.
If you mean low fuel, you could have an in-tank problem with the fuel pick-up foot deteriorated.
Hard start, white smoke, no engine cranking over - you could have a hydrolocked cylinder from a bad injector. Do you at least hear the starter trying to engage? Tied jumping the starter from the pass inner fender connection?
You will need Forscan with an OBD adapter, good mechanical skills, and deep pockets.
The ABS controller is for a later model year, '05+.
We're probably getting scammed.
So yellow dipstick on a 2006 would indicate 20mm heads? Also what's the main difference(s) between 18mm heads and 20mm? More power/better towing or something like that?
The yellow round-handled dipstick was supposedly one addition that came with the commonized heads, but it was not a 100% sure identification. SOME "non-commonized head" engines showed up with it as well, so not the best to assume commonization by only identifying that. Core plug size and carrier boss bolts are the only sure way at identifying commonized heads from an external view.
The 18mm and the 20mm only refer to the guide dowel size. I posted the literature on the changes for commonization over on the Org a week ago or so. Posted below also.
I should have disqualified Jack in the "Where's Waldo" game, lol! Just to maybe get it to "go on" a bit longer.
