I just got an 83 F150 but in the past the cab was swapped and the title for the cab was signed by the original owner, he signed everything he needed to sign, but the “date of sale” on the back of the title reads 7/22/09, will have to pay back fees or anything? Transferring from Colorado to Oklahoma
It may differ from state to state but I never heard of a thing in the state I'm in.
Someone from those states may chime in and give better info, or try searching oklahoma dmv for title transfer information.
You can check the laws in OK, but they'll probably charge you the maximum allowed penalty for registering a vehicle that has been unregistered for many years. I think it's $200 or $300.
The only state I know that charges any back fees is Cali as the plates stay with the car / truck for life.
I know in CT and here in NC they dont charge back fees.
In CT you had to pay sales tax and if you owed back property tax before you could get plates.
Here in NC my truck had not been on the road for years before I got it and at least 4 years while I rebuilt it.
I dont remember paying sales tax when I got the plate but each year I have property tax on everything like in CT.
You really need to check where you will get the plates to see what they have to say.
The big thing I would worry about is the cab & frame VIN's not matching unless you have signed titles for both.
You may have a title for the cab but when DMV looks at the frame and find the VIN is different and start looking what if the frame was stolen?
Yep you loose everything. Good luck
