New 6.4 Owner

Hey guys, new to the 6.4 game and could use some opinions from you guys. I’ve done my fair amount of research and I baby the hell out of it, fully deleted at 20,000 and a good deal of other stuff done (up pipes, charge pipes, oil cooler, radiator, FASS system, thermostat, water pump, and some other odds and ends) I have a Minimaxx only running on stock. Trying to do everything right, but I’m still 17 with little diesel experience. If I send a video of it idling would you guys give me some feedback? Tips to keep it in good shape?

Fuel filters every second oil change, third at the max. Ford filters only, same with the oil.

Do not use the minimax to tune it, there are some reputable companies out that that do custom tuning via an SCT device. Do some research and find a good stock or even "tow" tune.

What's the current mileage? Most of the 6.4s I see seem to need a new engine around the 150k-250k km mark (90k-150k mi). I have also heard of the few that go to 250k miles with minimal issues.

With 6.0s/6.4s maintenance is key but with the 6.4s there's always a little luck involved :P

What was said above are words of wisdom.

The long time owners are having amazing results by using a heavy service schedule. OEM parts are a huge key to that. You don't have to baby these rigs. They like to pull, but not be abused.

The early delete and the upgrades you mentioned are vital. Drive it like an adult. Maintain it like a madman, and start a change jar to pay for the unexpected.

The high mileage trucks are still out there working. Most owned by farmers or ranchers, even hot shot long haulers that know the key to survival is maintenance. If you hear something/see something/Fix it.

If you sit on your ars, pull up a chair, that truck will sit in that seat.

Good luck,

Denny
