Has anybody here ever noticed....

whether they get better mileage with their tailgate up or down, it seems like my ext. cab shortbed gets better with the 'gate up....
i didn't think this would be so.

Actually that's more of a tech question and it has been talked about many times.
I suggest using the search feature (Truck Forums) and seeing what everyone had said.

Has anybody here ever noticed....

I saw a report that said "tailgate up" is the best for mileage. If I can find the address I will post it here later.

i go tailgate down for aredynamics. wind will easily pass thorugh and cause less reistance

Has anybody here ever noticed....

There was a test done on here that showed whether or not it did help. Tailgate nets didn't, campers/tonneu covers helped the best, and tailgate down helped very little(.3mpg I think). I believe the test was at highway speeds where it would make a difference.
