Hi everyone, I had my 2018 f150 serviced last week to include the transmission fluid and filter. I am now currently stuck in a parking lot waiting for a tow truck because my trans is running at 220 unloaded at 65mph with rough shifts. Usually I’m at 185, and 215 when towing a pontoon boat. Not excited to fight with the dealer that did the service, any advice from anyone who’s had a similar situation? Thanks, Jimmy
I'd guess we continue to get weekly trouble about it. My suggestion:
Do NOT tell the dealer you were towing with the truck. They'll try to weasel out of fixing it.
Hopefully you're still under warranty and can get a courtesy car. My 10R80 was reprogrammed, rebuilt, reprogrammed and then replaced. I was actually wondering if I should eventually have the filter changed or the transmission flushed. My best bet might be to get rid of the truck ASAP.
Thanks for the reply, I’ll take a look at those. I’ve actually had really good luck with mine so far. It seems like the dealership didn’t seal the pan right though. Unfortunately I’m at 75k so out of warranty, but they claim they warranty their work for 2 years
Were you having any issues with transmission prior to service work? My concern is, not the sharpest tool in the shed gets fluid / filter exchange projects. Good luck with the repairs, hopefully they work with you.
Hopefully you were just low on fluid. If that is all that was the matter, make sure they generated a service ticket for that and it says that the fluid was low and topped off. That should cover you for the next 2 years for any problem with the transmission.
I wasn’t having any issues at all, just trying to be proactive at the 75k mark. I really want this to last to get my moneys worth. I am very happy to report that the dealer put me in a loaner f150 and they seem like they will take care of it. My only concern now is whether or not any lasting damage was done
I got the truck back today, it was the transmission pan gasket as suspected. The service manager told me everything was documented (gave me a copy) and that they would stand by their work if I ever had an issue. I can definitely recommend McGovern Ford in Lowell if anyone in the area needs something fixed. I am very happy with their professionalism and ethics, hard to find now a days especially as a younger guy. Thanks to those that offered advice, hopefully this helps someone
Good to hear a positive comment about a dealer, most seem to be the opposite. McGovern Ford is in my area, I'll check them out next time I need something.
Note: I used to do a lot of business with the previous at that location when it was Drum Hill Ford. They had a great parts department, very knowledgeable and helpful.
