Since I cannot find a PCM anywhere on this 1988 Ford, how is the E4OD controlled. I would like to put this trans behind a 460 and install both in a 1980 F350 that belong to my late father as the truck only has little over 85K and the 351 M is a little under powered for what I use the truck for'
Thanks Keith

You Do NOT have a 1988 with a factory E4OD.

The 460 bellhousing pattern is different from the SBF pattern that would be found in a f150 from 1989-1996 e4od
The 460 bellhousing is only shared to the big blocks which means another 460. And yeah.
What model? What engine? The PCM is behind the driver’s side kick panel. The first year for the E4OD was ‘89. What is the build date and what year does the emissions sticker under the hood say it complies with? Do you have an overdrive cancel switch on the dashboard?

I have check interchange books and 460 uses same bell housing, fly wheel as the 400 M and 351 M. I put a 460 in my 1977 F250 using bell housing and fly wheel off the 351 M AND clutch assembly..
There was never a 351M with the E4OD. You have a C6 three speed automatic.
I did not say that the E4OD was behind the 351 M, I have an E4OD and a 460 that I am going to transplant them into my 1980 F350 dually. as of present time the 80 has a 351M with 4 spd and I want to go with 460 and automatic . I need the power as I live in eastern Oregon and when I run east on I-84, I have to climb Cabbage hill up into the Blue mountains. And Cabbage hill is a 7% grade.

I also have a 1988 F250 4x4 with 7.3 diesel and an E4d0 , it is a special heavy duty truck. when I was doing brakes I had to order rotors and pads for 97 super Duty 4x4. I have all the original paper work for the truck, all I can figure is it was a special order truck. One owner, I am second owner of the truck. I am completely redoing the 88 4x4, it has a Ford Motor company replacement engine. It also has K code with an overdrive transmission..,
