My first trailer was a small tent trailer.
After arriving at the campgrounds and trying to back in, and finally making it.......
It would take about two days into our vacation before the wife and I talked to each other again.
The problem was I could never understand her hand signals........
Well until that last one, she got real good with flipping it at me!
When we get to a campground, my wife and I walk the site, and I tell her to stand where she wants the camper door to be. That gives me a reference point and I just put the trailer there. Granted, it's a much longer trailer than that 4x8 Uhaul and much easier to control (and dare I say I'm much more proficient than Jerry when it comes to backing a trailer). That said, I did have to tow a 4x8 Uhaul with my crew cab F250. Backing that stupid thing down a long driveway was miserable. I have a cap on the truck and it was loaded so I couldn't see out the rear window and I could barely see the trailer's fenders out my side mirrors. Trying to keep that thing dead straight with that long of a truck was a challenge for sure and I fortunately didn't have someone like Jerry's wife screaming at me the whole time!

Thankfully haven't gotten to the point where we don't speak to each other (yet) but typical conversation goes like this;
Just tell me how close I am to the rocks, tree, house etc.
You're close.
How close?
You know I'm not good with measurements. Close.
Or
Back up, back up, keep coming, Stop! Now you now you just gotta move to the left (as if the trailer could magically roll sideways)
Not to be confused with Back up, back up, keep coming, Stop! You're about to hit that tree.
Or, my favorite
Your left or my left?
Only thing worse thus far has been if she's asked to read a map while I'm driving. Spins that thing like a pinwheel. Just uttering the words north, south, east or west will put your life in danger.
Been with her for nearly 30yrs. Love her to death and wouldn't change a thing about her, but anyone that says that men and women are the same is out of their damn mind.

Damn Tony.....sorry bro, I didn't even see you sitting in the back of my truck
The map thing hits home still to this day.
Multi-lanes in traffic with the trailer with a turn coming up I ask which lane in advance?
Typical reply, it hasn't said yet.
Or, which way, east or west, I ask?
How do I know, it doesn't say on the map.
One trick I have learned that works great is to have her take her pups for a pee run before I hook up the trailer to the hitch....
Those hand signals make no sense at all, I guess cuz they aren't on the map
My wife is short and she loves to stand between the truck and the trailer and she can't understand why I tell her to get out of there. I cn't see her, I cn't see her signals, they are never the same even during the same time we are hooking up.
And yes I do love her to death but it is just so much easier if I do it myself and she has figured it out also.
I'd rather back my 36' travel trailer than my 5x10 utility trailer almost any time with our 6.0 E350. The utility trailer is already way off track by the time I see it in my side mirrors and too low for the rear view.
