Best I can figure it typically occurs first thing in the morning when all the fluids are cold and viscous causing higher pressure. So any seal that might be worn will puke fluid until temps come up and everything swells. Steering gearbox puking fluid only first thing in the morning = morning sickness.
To circle back, took the truck to ford to have the system flushed by professionals. This did nothing, but waste time and money.
When I got the truck back home I took off the box and sent it back. Got ahold of the company and they sent me a new one as soon as they received their first box. A week later (today) I got the 2nd box on and flushed the air out. Took it for a drive and viola, all is well. Not only do I have good power steering, but the truck drives great. Glad it’s finally back on the road. Now onto the next truck project.
