Check engine with DEF sensor quality bad

We had a week of temperatures down to -26 with highs still in the negative area, However now that temperatures are in the 40's I took a drive on the interstate and the
check engine light came on with a message of DEF sensor is reporting a signal outside of the normal range. This is on a 24 F350 diesel with 200 miles on it. However
previously my 2017 had similar message after a cold spell and it cleared after weather got warm. Has anyone else had this experience with DEF ?

It happens, surprising on such a new truck, but that is why they have a warranty on them.
Guess you could clear the code and see if it comes back, that is if you don't want to take it to the dealer.
If taking it in, then definitely leave the code active.

My opinion...extreme cold temperatures can trip just about any sensor into a false reading. -18F here last weekend. Started driving to work and the CEL came on. Got around to checking it the next day and pulled a code for "Particulate Sensor out of Range". I figured it's possible it went bad with 70,000 miles but cleared the code just to see if it came back. So far so good and have had one regen since as well.
I'd clear the code and see if it comes back before taking it to the dealership.

what was the exact code? you can check the concentration % with a code reader. As said, clear it and see.

Being it’s under warranty I would not clear the code. Take it into the dealer so you start a record with Ford of this problem. True that clearing the code may clear the problem. However it may be intermittent and could hibernate for months and even beyond your warranty. You will have more “pull” with the dealer and Ford in the future if they see this problem started Jan 2024.

Good luck,

Mike
