First off, we just picked this van up yesterday. However, we have owned an Econoline since 2013. It has the pictured stereo. I select the phone button and the display lists "No Phone". I push the #6/ok button, but it doesn't seem to do anything at all. I pulled the fuse for the radio for 10 minutes as I saw that shocking a Bluetooth issue on an escape of the same year. My owners manual packet includes info on the Sync and I tried those structures. I did see a forum post from a few years ago saying that older sync wasn't being supported anymore. Does this also mean my Bluetooth capability is gone? Should I disconnect the battery for a bit to disconnect all parts of the system?
I just purchased a 2014 E350 with the sams system. I went through the same issue you are. I finally contacted Ford and was told that the older sync is no longer in use.
They also looked up my vin and said it didnt have the sync system installed from the manufacturer, Ford..
I also had that info in my owners manual as well as Sirrus XM card/info but there is no satellite antenna installed.
I hope that helps.
Personally I suggest pulling the stock system and installing a good aftermarket system, not only will you get up to date features (Bluetooth phone connections, wireless Apple CarPlay etc.) but it’ll also sound better than the stock system. That was the first thing I did when I bought my truck new.
