likely would need the factory amp if they had one to feed the audio channels, which would be too many in a truck. i could be wrong tho

yes they did. part of the premium sound system. but you needed the external amp for it to work.

Now I remember bypassing it since you guys mentioned it. RR corner of my '88 Towncar. Ha.

Super loud with it hooked up by crazy distorted. Bypassed far less loud but cleaner sound.
