Any PCM guru's out there? I've posted about my problem a month back. But here's the update. The place that sent the wrong one, a junkyard in FL, has given lip service that they will replace it, but will not refund (that sounds like a lawyer issue since they didn't send what they sold me) Now just jerking me around about finding one and will swap it out but won't put any of this in writing. So...in the meantime (this is the real question) I have tracked down a 8C3A-12A650-AZE hardware code is VK2-C3812. What my gal's truck uses is a 8C3A-12A650-BFE also hardware code VK2-C3812.
So the question: since the hardware code matches can the -AZE unit be flashed to be a -BFE? The way I understand these (and I have found very little on it) is if the hardware code matches is the important part. I have downloaded the files from Ford for this VIN.
I'd hate to shell out another $1400 for the -AZE unit if it cannot be used.
The truck, BTW is a 2008 F250 6.8L. hate to "junk" it since we have put a bunch of $$ into suspension parts and more plus the trans shifts nice and the engine purrs nice and idles real smooth(when it runs) It is still at a shop 50 miles from me since that is where she had it towed when it broke down (codes P2126, P2110, P2104, P060B) and to date the shop assures me they checked all wiring, replaced TPS, Throttle Body motor and gas pedal assembly
Well I gave in and bought a PCM from Flagship1. Really didn't want to spend $3100 on it but had to, no other choices. Five other "junkyard" buys all fizzled. The problem seems solved.
