ken i have a quick question

well the pcm code is not listed anywhere on my truck. so i pulled the computer and sent all the codes that were listed on it. i got an email saying that none of them were the pcm code. i was told you were gonna try and cross refrence one of the codes i listed with diablo in hopes you would get it. so my question is this, does the pcm code with all 1988 f150's with the 5.8L 351 and a c6 auto tranny have a different pcm code, and if so why is this and what difference does it make?

Yes, there is more than 1 PCM code, plus there are remanufactured aftermarket PCM's out there (in Ford PCM boxes with different code). The match has to be exact or it won't start with the chip. Off the top of my head, there's 8QJ, HV1 (I think, may be a 302, have to look it up), D9L, etc. Since may 1 in 100 chips we do is for a vehicle that old, I don't have them all memorized, and I don't believe I even have a complete listing, hence the need for the PCM. Call your Ford dealer with your VIN and they can tell you which it is.

its sad when the "computer guy" at the local ford dealership doesn't even know what the pcm code is, let alone where one can find it.
