I am considering purchasing a 2020 2.7 eco F150 super cab with slightly under 16K miles. I know nothing about this motor, so what should I be looking for? From what I've read, it seems to be a pretty reliable motor. I have a super duty for the tough jobs, but the (little) 2.7 seems to be undersized. Any comments would be appreciated.
I think for the 2020 model year there's really nothing to worry about with the engine. The 10 speed seems to have some odd behavior for some users but that should be covered by the warranty if it's still in effect. 8.8 axle is good
Very few complaints about these.

Reason: clarify transmission comment
I think the 2020 you are looking at is a great machine. I feel most hiccups with this gen (as I own a 2020) have been improved by 2020, and the 2.7 seems to have very few issues.
Bought my 2.7 Lariat 11/1/22 have put 64,000 miles on it since then (had around 11,000 on it when purchased) Drive a lot of highway miles with some city. Oil changes around 6500, still original front brakes, just did rear. new tires at about 60,000 miles. Did trans fluid, the diffs, transfer case at 70,000 miles. going to do plugs at 80,000. have had 3 other f150's all 5.0's this has been the best most trouble free. its been leveled from the day i got it. Switched to 275/60/r20 AT tires as well

We have one the same year and trim but a CC and it's been flawless. We also have a SD for heavy jobs so it's just used for light duty and running around emptying 95% of the time. It's very responsive little motor and fun to drive and the best part is the gas mileage. The transmission take a little time to get used to it but it works fine, the hardest thing to get used to is all the shifting and skipping gears on the lower gears when under light load.
I've had tens of thousands of dollars worth of work done on the 10R80 in my 20 F150 (thankfully under warranty). I never towed and I never did any racing/hot *******. I would recommend against considering that XLT as a potential purchase.
Thank you for your responses. I purchased the 2020 XLT 2.7 Super Crew that had 16k on it. It came with the Ford Gold warranty. I would not have thought of getting a warranty, but Olds64 experiences pointed me in that direction, I would not have bought the truck without the warranty. Thanks Olds64!
So far it seems really nice and better than I expected. Thanks again!
BTW, My wife sees humor in the F150. We ordered a 23 F350 KR in rapid red. You can fill in the blanks on why it was never built despite being ordered on the opening weekend for the orders. The F150 is rapid red. 😂
Here are some photos. of the F150 with the 2.7L So far very happy with the truck!
It's new home; it's a real farm truck now. It replaces a 2007 Chev 2500HD with 214K. A Super Duty that is resting can handle the bigger chores. So happy that Olds64 posted his concerns. It had a little over 16 k now; confident that it'll do well.
Nice truck!. Don't be surprised if the Super Duty gets more rest than you anticipate. That little 2.7 will surprise you with the amount of work it will do.
