Hi everybody, I just have one quick question. I was buying a new oil filter at the parts store and when i brought up the genral category of filters on the computer it also gave me a listing of a cabin filter. Fram part number CF8631. I was wondering if there is one and were it is located. I did know some cars and trucks had them but i did not know mine had it. Thanks for any info.
Thanks Michael
Many models COULD be available with this. To be honest though, there is alot of discussion about this because very few vehicles actually have the dealer option. The cabin air filter kit was discontinued a few years ago.
Do a search here and in the Nav/Expy forum and you will find alot.
I've never seen an F150 with a cabin filter but if it's like a Ford car with one it will be beneath the passenger's side windshield wiper cowl cover. You remove the wiper arm and then the cowl cover.
Actually, in the F-150's the cabin filter (if you had one) would be located up under the dash area of the passengers footwell.
I've never seen it done, but I've heard you really need to contort yourself to be able to work on it (or suck it up and take out the passanger side seat).
Good luck with it.
P.s. If you want to add it after-the-fact. I think there is a part or two you need to get (from either the dealer or someplace like fordpartsonline) and then you need to trim the "slot" where the filter goes in. I guess its suppose to be pretty obvious once you have all of the parts and are laying on your back looking at it.
My passenger side kick panel says something about a filter I think. It also says air susp. too. I haven't seen a F150 with air ride. Maybe the Expy's may have this option and use the same panel???
Jimmy
Like I said the parts are not available from ford anymore. The only thing i've seen was a NOS kit on ebay.
Jimmy, you are right. That panel is used in the trucks with air suspension.
It shouldn't be too hard to get the filter and cutout the space that it goes in. You just need to make something to hold it in place. The factory kit came with some templates for cutting the bottom of the box out. Somtimes there is a panel under the passenger side dash that can be in the way.
alot of f-150's came with a cabin filter however it was a regional offering for only certain parts of the country. if you need a picture of location please e-mail me dforrest@landmarkford.com
If you were to email me through the "profile" link at the bottom of this post I could email you back and you could then email a picture of the cabin filter so I could post it on here.
Got that?
lol
Guys, I have a 2002 F150 King Ranch SuperCab and it does have a cabin filter. It is under the dash on the passanger side and does take some flexaility to change.
There's a fairly obvious oblong cap held on with screws above the passenger footwell if you have it. And there should be a sticker showing filter changes. Otherwise its a blank which is cut out with a razor knife and a template if you can find the accessory kit. Probably could be jerryrigged without the kit using a replacement filter and caulk or otherwise, but might be hard to seal completely. The accessory mounting plate is fairly convoluted.
