Trying to upgrade my 62 while I have interior out to repaint. Decided to do the upgrade to intermittent and push wash. I have a new switch and I understand cutting the shaft and all to get ready, the wire harness is the red / orange for the switch out to the governor (little blk box) and then to the next connector which is supposed to plug into the motor. Nope it is a 6 wire connector and my motor is 4 wire. I have the 6 wire I cut from another trk but unsure how to put 6 to 4, I understand 2 of the 6 are for the wash?? Anyone have any ideas? This was supposed to be easy plug and play, nope first I had the american bosh mtr and it wouldn't work so located a new mtr got it installed in bracket waiting to connect the dots. here is whole setup switch, gov, and harness harness out of gov to mtr mtr wires
Another FTE member, Bruce, on one of the Facebook groups posted this link, so I bookmarked it. It’s what I’d do if I wanted to upgrade, but I’m holding fast with what I’ve got.
Use a test light and run fused 12v to one side and the light to ground. Now touch the other side of the light to each wire coming out from the switch. Mark which one gets lit when the switch is on. Draw a diagram. Do the same for the wiper motor. This may help you guess what will work best without burning up a motor or switch. Maybe?
