Hello! I am in the process of cleaning up my floors and painting with POR15. While working today I unplugged the dimmer switch and realized the rubber piece that plugs in is very deteriorated. It is not always making good contact with the tabs on the switch itself. What options are available to replace the rubber wire plug?
If you are looking for a functional equivalent any auto parts store can get you a pig tail to splice in as a replacement. Standard Motor Products S64 comes to mind.
There may be molded rubber connectors out there but I don't know of any that are sold separate from a replacement harness. Maybe Bauer?

Thanks for the quick reply! I was hoping I could fine the rubber connector, but may have to resort to something else if it isn’t available.

In my mind if the connector is that loose, you risk not having headlights. Also a non oe connector beats an electrical fire any day.
Not sure what year your truck is, but your rubber body is a little different than a 61 and 64 harness I have handy. For what it's worth here is what is molded on my new repro 64 harness. I think I bought it from Obsolete but it is made by Bauer. Pin side 'back' side
I haven't installed this harness yet but so far I'm very satisfied with the quality of the molded connectors and it lays well compared to the old used harness.

Perhaps a phone call or three to different repro. harness manufacturers might yield one willing to sell you what you need, the connector with about a foot of wire to splice in - if they aren’t made in China.
I have also been able to use a pick and some very small needle nose pliers to tighten connecter terminals in the past, and worked for years.
And I cannot recall ever hearing of a cab-fire resulting from a faulty dimmer-switch plug, so I would not lose much sleep over it.

I lost headlights in the past, but was able to regain connections by slightly bending the tabs on the dimmer switch. I’ve known for awhile that it needed to be replaced, but kept putting it off because I got it working.

If I can’t find a good one in a junk yard then I’ll definitely be looking into your option.
