I have a 1972 that according to the VIN was a 302 3spd from the factory. Now it has a 351w and C6 with a later model steering column that I'm having trouble identifying. The ignition is still in the dash, the difference is the flashers switch is on the column. Does anyone know when Ford switched the flashers to the column?
I'm rewiring the truck with an American Autowire kit but none of the column wire colors match up. If I can identify the year I should be able to find a diagram for that year.
Thanks for any help

Is your column fixed or tilt? The Ford tilt columns from the 60's to the 80'S operated by pushing the turn signal lever forward.
This diagram should work with about all of the switches with the emergency flasher switch in the TS switch. You can prove out your wires with an OHM meter.
This is a huge help! @Crop Duster I really appreciate it.

Now that's some exciting stuff there! Had any smoke coming out of the wires yet?

I opened a huge can of worms with this one. Started cutting out the wiring and had to pull the interior. Found rust, and started a full restoration of the interior. Wire wheeled and found bad patches, applied Por15, sound deadening, and insulation with new carpet, door panels, and seat ordered. Replaced an inner fender, patched the firewall, installed headers, one-wire alternator, new brake booster and master cylinder. I've got plenty of pics when I get a sec to upload.
So you basically had the snowball effect, rolling down the rabbit hole, into a can of worms!!!
For sure! How it started. Found the rot! And the questionable patchwork After filling the rust spots, por15 and sound deadener Heat reflector and insulation Test fitting the carpet New under dash pad with Ford Crystal Blue paint
