So I have my bed off my 71' highboy and my frame cleaning is coming alone nicely, I was looking at my brake lines and hoses. My hoses are pretty much shot (dry rotted and cracked) and my brake lines are all rusty and bent. I just can't see having a frame that looks brand new and keeping that other stuff on there looking like poop.
So my question is: where can I get some pre bend SS brake lines for my truck? I know some people have gone to inline tube. As far as I know they don't have them pre bent. I would need to take mine off and send them in to be pre bent. I found another site called Classic Tube. They have pre bent ss lines for a 74' f-250 4wd power drums. Will those work on my 71 highboy? My 71 has 4 wheel power drums also. The hoses I can get through LMC and I think LMC has pre bent lines just not SS.
Inline Tube specializes in pre-bent brake line sets for all kinds of vintage cars and trucks. They make them up to your order for the exact year, model, and features of your truck. You can order sets in regular steel or stainless. The set for my '67 F100 long bed, with power drum brakes was about $150 in steel. I think the same set in stainless was about $220. It took them about 3 weeks.
xstrange, did u have to send your old lines in so they could bend the new ones? If they will just make them I'll just order from them, but taking mine off and sending them in is a bit of pain.
I'm basicly done with LMC except for specific screws and fastners.
I would just call InLine tube and be done with it. I looked at there site and looks as thought they have every combination. Maybe grab 72 F250 lines for the power version.
whynot just get a bunch of brake line, bend it yourself with a little $15 bender, then rent a double flaring tool from the auto parts store, and make the brake lines yourself?
me and my dad did this for his buick and it really wasnt that hard.
but then installing them on a newer modern car that has 10 lbs of crap crammed into a 5 lb bag was a different story.
Inline Tube Brake line kit optional front disc brakes
I know this is an old thread but does anybody know if the Inline Tube brake line kit for the power drum brakes works with a truck that has the optional front disc brakes. They don't make a disc brake line kit and I called Inline Tube and they did not know if this kit would work.
Part Number SFRB6705
Truck: 69 F-250 Camper Special 2wd long bed optional Front Disc brakes.
I don't know if it will work or not, but I know of one owner that had a F250 with disc brakes, that contacted Inline and he sent his old lines to them, and they made him a set to match his original hard lines. I am in the same boat as you as I have a 1972 F250 with disc brakes. So I am interested to find out what you do. Let us know.
If someone has set of tubes into inline tube they have that order documented.
call them again ,be patient and explain that someone else from the forum sent in lines and they made them, helpfull would be to know that persons name.
I am a big fan of inline tube but thete are some combinations they dont have until someone sends a set in
