2019 F250 with 175,xxx miles SHOULD I BUY

Hello Superduty fam!! New to the forum and searching for some help from the experts. Actually, looking for advice more than help. I have owned multiple trucks but never a diesel. Never really had a need for one but come across a deal I'm not sure I can pass up. This is where y'all come into play.

I have an opportunity to purchase a 2019 F250 XLT with 175,xxx miles for $19,000. Obviously it's that's a lot of miles, but a great price. Am I crazy for considering this truck? As I stated, I am not familiar with owning a diesel, so what should I expect here? What are the major repairs I should be thinking about? What is the realistic life
expectancy on these engines? I know the truck has been maintained well. The majority are highway miles and not much towing.

I am open to all advice/options to help guide me with this decision. I know it's a risk with unknowns, but do you think this is a money pit waiting to happen? Thank you all in advance.

For the price I would go for it. But I would do a couple things.

The price at $19k is very cheap and leaves some room even if you have to put some more into it would still be a good deal.

Since the truck wasn’t maintained by you since new and you can’t be sure I would put an S&S DPK on it and enjoy.

I'd buy it for that based on what you told us. Looks like a decent deal assuming the truck isn't beat up.

does it have all the emissions systems intact.

with that many miles, the front end is most likely in need of work, all fluids need to be changed most likely.

The big ticket is the emissions system or whether the truck was tuned.

The truck is in great condition. You would think it had 50,000 miles on it standing next to it. I was shocked when I was told the mileage.

I will have to find out if it has a tune... that I'm not sure about. And I apologize in advance, but could you
elaborate a little on the emissions comment? What should l look for/ask about?

Thanks!

He did say diesel, so that would make it the 6.7l.

How are you going to use the truck?

Simple answer given all you've posted: Do not buy it.

Okay, missed that, sort of buried in the story.
19K for a 19 6.7 PSD is pretty cheap, but that is a lot of miles unless you know the history on it well.
Were I to buy it, I would definitely be wanting to buy a warranty to go with it.
And if it has been deleted, then I would run away fast.

I wouldn't hesitate if it's as good as you say. I personally wouldn't want it if it was deleted and running a tune. If it's stock maybe think seriouly about changing out the CP4 to the DCR. Doing that saves the $400 for DPK and put it towards the "better" fuel pump.

In this thread there are a bunch of videos to wrap your head around and something to think about.

Hmmm... "simple answer given all I posted: Do not buy it."

Are you saying this because of the mileage, is it because I'm not an expert in diesel engines like yourself, or maybe because you would rather be
condescending instead of helpful. Ironically, your answer isn't all that simple as it poses more questions. Maybe you should have said, "thoughtless answer" or "useless answer" instead of "simple answer". And you're a Super Moderator? Maybe I'm on the wrong forum.

How am I going to use it? Well, mainly as a daily driver (I assume like 90% of people on this forum) with the occasional towing of a camper. I'm not pulling heavy weight around daily. Do I need a Powerstroke? Probably not, however, I like the way these trucks look, the size/roominess of the interior, and the capability it gives me. Is there a "cool" factor driving a Superduty.... of course. Does the way I'm going to use it not make me worthy?

I am asking for expert advice/opinions on the high mileage of the truck and things I should consider and look for.

what is the idle hour count on it? that's another number to check before buying

Diesel and Gas super duties look identical interior and exterior wise with the exception of recent ones with two exhaust outlets and door badging on the diesels.

I would also say given you lack of exposure to modern class 2B and up diesels, just be prepared for some first hand learning if you do buy it.

Transmission is as close to bombproof as you can get and that's pretty undisputed. The big concern would be an engine issue as they are expensive to fix or replace. Beyond that financial decision it seems like a decent deal. Better research the emissions systems and whether or not it's "deleted", what that means, and how it may or may not complicate ownership. If you do go ahead with it, before you drive it past the first week, put a Disaster Prevention Kit on the fuel system. They are not cheap trucks to own when there are problems.
