well, I'm finally retiring one of my favorite shirts. It was from my second Supernationals at the Grand. The collar is frayed and it's threadbare. A couple of holes that the underside
of my truck provided along with oil and brake and transmission fluid and mustard stains. Hate to see it go.
I feel your pain as I have a few tee shirts in the same shape from AMC meets, I was big into AMC cars at 1 time, and some of the show are no longer happening
I just will not bring my self to use them as rags like I do the normal tee shirts.

I have a handful of shirts that are getting pretty old but I only wear them on truck related occasions. I have shirts from the FTE truck meats and a custom made embroidered sweat shirt with an image of my F-2 custom made by my cousin. Non of the shirts are work except at truck shows and meets. Hopefully they'll last until I don't have a reason to wear them any longer.
I'm glad you saved that old shirt, John. Another fun thing you can do with old event Tees is make a memory quilt with them. I've got a whole box full of old concert tees, car show tees, etc., that I just can't stand the thought of throwing away but can't/won't wear any more. (Part of getting old is the need for a pocket for my reading glasses) I've been threatening my wife I'm going to make her make me one from all of them someday. Makes for an awesome, fun blanket. Search online for t shirt quilt. For example...
PS, sorry, Ken, somehow I missed your post. You have a great idea.
My wife made a quilt from some of my old T-Shirts that were from events we've been to through the years. Like John, my t shirts were beginning to show the wear, but I couldn't bring myself to throw them away or make rags out of them. As you might notice, I've been into all kinds of things that had engines on them, including tractors. It was made into a king size.
My wife Maxine quilts all the time. When I or we go to truck shows I make it a point to stop at all the quilts shops and museums. She made one of all my Knoxville Nationals.
