So I want to do a coolant flush this Spring. 2012 F250 with the 6.2 gas engine.
Are we still using the orange MotorCraft coolant or has this change?
Is there a universal coolant that I can get WITHOUT going to the dealer?
I used that Ford Flush Product (VC1), a few clean water flushes, and then Motocraft yellow w/distilled water. Orange was there before. I heard Motorcraft Yellow is Prestone.
That is exactly what the dealer here does for a premium coolant service.
To tell you the truth, I can't remember when I have ever flushed a coolant system, except when back in the day(70's), I either relied on Bar's Stop leak, to get back to the house, or when I rebuilt an engine.
I just look at it, and if it looks like what I put in, I'm good. If a thermostat goes bad, or a water pump gets changed, it just gets topped off with what I put in the last time. And the stuff I use is Peak or Prestone, whichever is cheaper, and never any of that 50% mix crap.
Ford's antifreeze is just someone else's with a different label.
I had the water pump changed on the 2011 F250 at 100,000 miles, because it started whining. Pretty good, I think.

Dealer talked me into that flush product, I used it on all the cars. They swear by it. It is approved by Ford for service.
Also have an 11 6.2L. I put in a new Ford Tstat too, was $10 or so. I thought of a WP at 200K, but if it ain't broke, don't fix it!
