Red coolant.

Hey guys, i bought a 2016 f250 6.7 from texas, completely stock except for both coolant systems are filled with red coolant. Im pretty sure this is just red semi coolant and this truck came from a construction company. On all my existing 6.7s i religiously run ford coolant. Should i be worried about the red coolant? Flush and change out with ford orange? Or send it?

If it is red coolant it is most likely ELC of one brand or another. Nothing wrong with using ELC and you benefit of not needing to add anything along the way between change intervals.

You are probably aware that using the wrong coolant can lead to corrosion issues. And, color of coolant isn't a perfect indicator of type.

If it was me, I'd take the truck to a dealer and have them test the coolant. They have what appears to be litmus paper to do this with. (I did this recently and it took 2 minutes and there was no charge either)..

Cheap peace of mind.

Rich

The Motorcraft Orange has been discontinued. The new coolant that replaces the Orange is Yellow and actually looks fluorescent green.

I run Red Caterpillar coolant in all my equipment ---- if it's good enough for $M dollar CAT equipment, it's good enough for my 6.7Ls

Have used for years --- works perfectly.
