Hey guys, the passenger's side axle seal has been leaking for a while and I finally have time to mess with it. I considered taking it to a shop, but I already know with parts and labor I'd be close to $1,000 if not more. I've done ball joints a couple times before so I figure this isn't too much more in depth than that.
With that said, does anyone have a part number for the tool used to install the new seals? Can't find a definite answer on google. Also, ball joints on the driver's side are starting to wear so I'm gonna go ahead and replace them as well.
Anything else I should replace while I'm in their? U-joints still seem good, but I haven't replaced them once in the 8 years that I've owned the truck. I've also read where sometimes the outer "stub" axle can get worn over time...any signs I should look for that would indicate wear other than the obvious dents/dings/scars on the shaft?
I've also found a site called Ventures Truck parts that sells various stages of front end rebuild kits. Anyone have any experience with them? Thinking of going with them do to them selling all Spicer stuff.

I don't have any part numbers but you might want to look at Drivetrain America. They have all Spicer parts as well and they have usually always had the best prices when I've needed any Spicer parts.
Inner axle seal requires both axles to be removed and differential carrier to be dropped.
TorqueKing4x4 has the perfect tools for this job and I've used them for years. They work fantastic. Not sure if you want to spring the $$$ for a one time job, but the tools are really high quality.

Honestly, it would be worth it. Especially since it has a 'fixed depth", there'd be no question if I pushed the seal in too much or too little. I also have some buddies with Dana 50 trucks so it'd be nice to have if they ever needed it.
There was a guy on here that made a tool to do it within the past 2 weeks I believe. I think he posted it in the today's was a good day what did you do to your truck thread. But don't rememeber who it was. It looked like a copy of that torque king tool.
Ditto TorqueKing4x4. Been there once as they aren't too far from me. Nice shop with good folks the few times I've done business with them.
They've got a nice facility now but the 10 MPH drive through a gated community with the african animal-themed street names and speed bumps kinda sucks. The old joint was a lot easier to get to.
Good knowledgeable people behind the counter though!

That part is weird, the first time I went there I was convinced my gps was a liar for a good 5 minutes. I was waiting for some karen to run outside and meltdown over the lifted excursion creepin' through her safe space or something.
When I got there the owner and I chatted a good bit about the D60 swap, very knowledgeable people. Previously, I had ordered from them without a thought, then going over the invoice I realized I paid ups for something I could have just picked up.

this is the one I made from a 2 1/4 socket and 1/2 inch threaded rod on the fly…they have some on Amazon for 40-50’would have went with one of those if there were no time constraints…the tool worked well especially once I saw the one shown above as a proof of concept. Would also recommend the axle seal installer tool.

When you say "axle seal installer tool" are you talking about a tool for the big outer vacuum seal? Are you supposed to replace that seal every time you take the axles out?
