I have brought my original rear shaft to this guy, hes an old timer, seems good, and he's seen my X, but his rebuild was not a good solution for my needs with my lift. I switched this year to a Tom Woods shaft with a double cardan on one end.
I was about to call him this morning. Not sure if he would build me a custom shaft or not.
I may order one, but I thought there must be some locale around here, especially with all the circle track business in town.
Maybe an inch of lift. I just feel a slight vibration around 75 and I am guessing ford had tried to remedy the inherent problem with dampeners placed all over the underside and a couple of different rear driveshaft designs.
My slip yoke is maybe a problem due to a snap noise I've started to notice but have not yet diagnosed, and it takes grease way more often now than it did years ago to prevent the clunk/pop/thunk noise we get from a dry slip.
I just figured now that it's almost 25 years old, i would replace the shaft with a double carden shaft and relocate the perches if needed. I put one on a k5 blazer I used to have and it was magical.

Ford put double carden rear driveshafts on some Excursions stock. My 2005 diesel 4x4 has one, not sure what other years or drivetrain options got them.
But I run at 70mph and beyond ( the speed limit in parts of west Texas is 80 mph) with 35 inch mud grip tires with no vibration at any speed. Not sure if that’s a direct result of the double carden shaft or not, but I imagine it doesn’t hurt anything having one.
