i have a 2000 F150 supercab/short bed that recently dropped a driveshaft. it seems something cut the driveshaft in 2. i have been told it was a muffler bracket that ended up touching the driveshaft after i lowered the truck.
now, to my question. i purchased another driveshaft from a salvage yard, and after having to buy convergent u-joints....i can't get the driveshaft to go back on the truck. i have the front yoke in the tranny and i can't seem to get the back to go into place. i have tried numberous ways and nothing seems to work. i was wondering, is it possible to put the rear on first then get the front yoke into the tranny?
a quick response would be greatly appreciated since i have to have the truck running by tuesday evening.
Is your new driveshaft the right length? I would double check that.
If it is, it should easily slide into the transmission and then can be bolted up to the rear diff.
