I've owned my 15' since new and never realized what the stock boost pressure was supposed to be. After driving my brother-in-law's 15', I was shocked to how much quicker it was to accelerate and tow up and around our steep terrain. My truck has 80k on it and hits 21 to 22lbs of boost whereas my brother-in-law's truck hits 25 to 27lbs. I decided to check the MAP sensor and it was clogged with carbon but had a pinhole opening. Instead of trying to clean the sensor and risk damaging it I ordered the Hitachi replacement (OEM manufacturer for Motocraft) for 40 bucks from Amazon and now the truck builds 25lbs+ on hard acceleration. It's a night and day difference.
I had no check engine light and no codes for low boost pressure. The truck towed fine but just a slight bit slower climbing grades with my equipment trailer loaded. Next is to install the cold side tube before it pops since I'm at 80k miles.
