Starter question

I’ve had my starter rebuilt 2 times in the last 2 months first time was a complete rebuild second time the drive was swapped out with new parts, but it never ends well only lasts about a week then it just spins and does not catch the fly wheel. Is there a modern starter I can use to replace the original? Or any suggestions on what the shop is doing wrong?

Have you inspected your ring gear? Any work or broken teeth?

Is your starter drive matched to the flywheel?

If I recall appropriately, you have a 6 cylinder of some sort (226)? They tend to use different flywheels and starter drives than the more common V8.

Lastly, you have already invested in new 00 or 2/0 battery and starter cables?

It ended up being a bad drive on the brand new starter, now I have to allocate new screws to secure it tightly

I need the screws that hold the whole starter together and mount to the tranny, but I should be able to get those at the hardware store.

Ford Part Number 18-11091 with many applications in cars, trucks, and tractors. It is probably NOT a typical hardware store find, but again, a specialty Ford supplier.
