Rebuilding starter?

My ol' mule is starting to crank over slower. I replaced both batteries. I think it's time for a new starter. My question is this, can a fella pick up a rebuild kit for this, or is the task not worth the effort?

I think you can get a kit, but you may be surprised to find it costs just as much as a rebuilt starter. But, the rebuilt starters do not have a very good reputation. It seems if you get one, it has a chance of not working when you put it in. But it's been my experience if it works for about a week, it's good to go for a long time. If you don't mind the aggravation of swapping starters if you have to, they will give you one under warrenty till you get it going.

The one safe option is a new starter, but of course you pay more money for that.
