I have a 79 Ford f100 with a 302 Windsor. I just picked this truck up about 6 moths ago. I got it running, enough to move it. Parked it in my front yard.. I tried to start it and a lot of noise was coming from the starter. So I replaced it. Then come to notice, a good few wires were burnt. So I replaced them. But now when I go to start the truck., nothing happens, no clicking, nothing at all. Any help with troubleshooting would help!
Fusable Link burnt up after a short it sounds like. Need to find them and check, and determine why the short happened before replacing any blown links.
replacing ground straps while you're looking for whatever likely caused the wires to burn up would be good maintenance and could actually be the issue itself... i'd also proactively replace the starter solenoid. i think you'd be like $50 total for those and they could ultimately be part of the problem you have
Do you get any power to the gauge cluster, lights, etc when you turn the key to accessory or run? If not, I guarantee it's the fusible link. Either that or you forgot a ground connection somewhere as mentioned above.
