Howdy y’all, I’m going through some issues with my lighting and I’m at my wits end and need further guidance. I have front low beam lights working, turn signal lights working, and side marker lights working. I wasn’t having either high beams working. I replaced the dimmer switch again and cleaned up contact point. Re-grounded the head light grounds to rad support. No luck there. I unplugged the harness plug for each headlight wiring and used contact cleaner. Bingo passenger side high beam now working but driver side still not working. I switched headlights to rule out bad bulbs and same thing so it’s not the headlight itself. Previously to unplugging the harness connectors , when headlights where on the left turn signal was illuminated on the dash. After clean up and passenger side high beam working, that light is now not illuminated. I took a test light to all grounding wires on sockets, ground points on rad support, and the harness plugs incoming and outgoing and they all tested good. I have already replaced turn signal switch and headlight switch. I also cleaned up the ground bar that connects to headlight switch and wiper switch. I’ll add this also previously before I started tracing down wires and grounds, when I clicked the dimmer switch to high beam, it did sound like something behind the dash somewhere was flickering and one time previously got hit enough to smoke a little bit. I’ve not been able to track down where or what that was but for now all lights up front work fine except passenger high beam. Thank you for any advice or input.

I would start by removing your instrument cluster and find the short that made smoke. That needs to be addressed whether it fixes the high beam or not.
If the low beams light, the ground is OK. If for a brief moment, you had one high beam ... but the other never lit up, you likely have a fault where the left vs right headlight high beam wires splice from the one wire from the dimmer switch. Green/Black is the high beams, Red/Black looks to be low beams.

Not sure what all you mean there ... but noises followed by smoke ... needs to be tracked down.
