Recently replaced my ball joints and axle seals, along with a few other steering tie rods. Had everything back together, so I thought. I guess I didn't get the PS locking hub retainer clip in properly and lost the unit somewhere.
I thought maybe it was something in my reassembly done wrong. I double checked the washers on the shaft and snap ring, they are all in properly. Took out the DS hub and I can put it in and the ring snaps in and seats.
Got to looking at the SPECs on the hubs offered, one says:
Outside Diameter Of Axle (mm): 30mm
Another says
Outside Diameter Of Axle (mm): 33mm
Could this be my problem?
EDIT: I put a caliper to both my old one and the new DORMAN and I can't see any size difference. Only thing might be the flange were the O-ring sits.
Did you lubed the O ring on the locking hub? Some locking hubs require some force to get them where they need to be. You could probably get a rubber mellet and smack them in or apply some pressure with you hands. I had a hard time getting some new locking hubs in my 00 to sit right.

I thought I had enough, I'll try some more tonight.
If i'm not mistaken, you also want a light coat of lube on those teeth as well.
Everything looks ok, so it should go in. I don't think anything could be stopping it. Maybe give it some love taps with a rubber mallet/ dead blow
Yeah I always would start the spring clip then pop the outer rim of the lockout with a mallet or block of wood w/ hammer. For in case purposes double check all the splines are smooth and uniform. Even just a nick on 1 can throw a wrench in the works.

Yep, had to modify my new drive shaft assembly the other day 🙃 also helps to grab the u joint and wiggle it
So I ended up getting it in last night. I had tried the dead blow hammer with a block of wood up against the hub.
After the O-ring was mentioned, I took a big flat head and lightly tapped around the outter edge and that did the trick to get it to seat in all the way and the locking ring snapped into the groove.
