I just brought this old girl home. Unfortunately the intake manifold and carburetor are missing and the engine is stuck. If anyone has any leads on a 332 engine, I would be very interested.
T80 = T800 Tandem Axle "Regular" version vs. T81 & T84 for the light and heavy versions

03BSC-455 = Possibly February 3rd 1956---Others have that info
DSO is an asterisk, possibly because it's a special order?
My info is pretty limited for this model year.
There are bunch of folks in this forum and the '48-'56 forum with the 302 and 332. I know little about those but the 302 and 332 have the same stroke so the deck height is the same, so I'd bet manifolds would interchange.
You can post "Looking for" threads in either or both forums. Look up at the top also, there are "For sale/wanted" threads there as well.
Man, I love this truck!! Although I am not so secretly attracted to the C series, your tandem axle "day cab" pulls at my heart strings. If that thing came up for sale close to me, I would do my best to own it.
Please keep the pictures coming and keep us updated on your restoration progress. that truck really deserves to be back on the road.
Well I have some crazy plans for the T800. The king pins are shot and the motor is incomplete and stuck. I've never seen brake cans like the ones that are on it. So... I'm going in another direction. I have located a complete Meritor axle and suspension for it, along with the transfer case. I'm looking at buying a newer F800 cab and chassis with the 5.9 liter cummins and 6 speed manual transmission. This way the truck will have more modern running gear with lots of life left in it. I'm thinking of putting the cab onto the new chassis and making use of my new magnetic drill, and putting the 6x6 running gear on it.
Super cool find! IMO, the rarest of the rare, and top of the food chain for '56. Unfortunately, parts are impossible to find now that is over 6 decades old. IMO, a complete running late model dual drive long wheelbase donor would be the way to go. Your truck is very similiar to the one featured in Clues magazine, it belonged to an independent logger Clarence Landwing. Was yellow with Budd wheels long wheelbase and air horn in the same location, but was a Custom Cab. Most of these T 800's are east coast short wheelbase with Daytons.
That sounds like an awesome build but if I was going through all that swapping I’d go with a bigger engine if I was planning on doing any serious tandem axle work with it. Very nice rig
If you want it to have plenty of get up and go, plus hill pulling, here is an 8.3 mechanical Cummins. That, and a 9 speed overdrive Eaton Fuller transmission will do the job. It may fit in there without firewall cutting, don't know.
