Welcome to FTE!

I'll give you your own thread for this truck. If you have additional questions and post on this thread, it will be easier for others to see what we're talking about.

C61 = C600 gas

D = 292 4V Ford Y-block gas V8. Might be the HD version.

U = Louisville Assembly Plant

461692 = 1964 numerical series, October 1963 production. (C series numbers are said to start at 465--- for '64 and '63 is said to end at 445000)

153 = 153 inch wheelbase

No color code. This truck is not a special order, so possibly a typo on the plate. Looks yellow to me on the door. Possibly a white repaint on the rest.

C610 = C600 gas, 21,000 lbs GVWR

91A = I do not have upholstery info for this model year

F = Borg Warner model T98A four speed transmission

F2 = Eaton Model 15201 2 Speed Rear Axle / 5.83/8.17-1 / 15,000 lb. Rear Axle Capacity
No front axle code unless an optional axle. Your axle should have at least a 6,000 lb rating and no power steering.

21000 = 21,000 lbs GVWR

153 3600 = 153 certified net HP @ 3600 RPM

72 = San Jose District Sales Office.

Thank you

Thank you. I appreciate the help
but I do have a question. It has a 330 motor. So why is the vin saying a 292?

FT engines were introduced in '64, it might be a replacement.

I'll get back to you later today on this. The engine codes changed in those first couple years, but in '64 the "D" was a 292.

Engine codes:
A: '64-'65 330 2V MD
C: '64 292 2V, '66 on 330 2V MD
D: '64 292 4V, '66 0n 330 2V HD
M: '64-'65 330 2V HD

As to the 330, put another way courtesy of @NumberDummy :

The 4th digit of the VIN is the engine code.

A = 1964/65 330 MEDIUM DUTY

C = 1966/72 330 MEDIUM DUTY
-------------------------------
M = 1964/65 330 HEAVY DUTY

D = 1966/72 330 HEAVY DUTY

So...both the 292 and the other FT engines were available in '64. How yours is coded for a 292 but has a 330 is a mystery.

Most likely is a replacement engine some time in the last 59 years.

Your engine shows blue paint--Ford started using blue on all engines in '66. I can't tell what carb it has. The air cleaner says HD, which should be a Holley 2300 series. An MD would be an Autolite 2100.

If you can find a casting number or two, or the date code, we can see when the engine was produced.

Check your transmission case for casting numbers etc. Your engine might have come over with a different transmission too.

Ok. I should be picking it up here pretty soon so I will look into the casting numbers. I’ll ask the guy I am buying it from what he knows about it as well

That's a 1965 model year revision. So it's a replacement engine.
