Just got an Excursion
>Two things...Is it hot when you are getting things out the

>shins?
The hair is still there, but I make a point not to stand in front of them. They are also flush with the hitch, so they do not get in the way. They do get hot, my son can testify to that. All of the inconvenience is certainly worth the sound of that V10 resonating in the 4" pipes. I love how every time I pass a mechanics shop or car dealership, all heads turn.
>Would you mind doin' an experiment? Take the MPG from your
>truck for a week; remove the Tornado thingy and run it
>another week. Tell us if it is different! Would you do it?
I would be happy to do that experiment. I made all of the improvements at about the same time. I did notice about a 1mpg improvement. I do not know which improvement to credit, the flowmasters, K&N, or Tornado Air. I will measure without tornado on my next fill up. Currently I get about 10 - 10.5 around town. I live in Central Florida so there are no hills. I have noticed a dramatic improvement in performance and mileage in colder weather when the humidity is down. One difference that I noticed after installing the tornado was the pickup at high rpm's was improved, like passing. I would really like to find a dynometer and see the true values.

PLEASE get back to me when you are able to find these, I would be gratefull. I had the last front pair replaced recently, and they made it about 5k. They went to crap after towing a car trailer (with an RX7) from S.C. to here. From reading your previous postings I think this is attributed to lug torque differences, I have not checked them yet.
>What do run for tire pressure? Also, the larger tires you're
>considering will help.
Any recommendations on Tire type, size, pressure and brand for improvements. Don't promise that I will comply, but I am always willing to learn.
I did pickup my X from the shop today, the Idle Air valve was replaced. This, according to them, will alleviate the problem.
Good to be aboard,

)Well, the manual states 45/55 front & rear, respectively. I have bumped it up to 60 all the way around. I did get a somewhat nice improvement whilst riding on the highway. About .4 to.7 mpg more. They aren't that bad on the side street either.
Thanks for doin' the Tornado "test" for me. There is a lot of questions about it validity here on the boards. You'll prove or disprove the manufacturer's claims. And yes, we'll all consider your findings to be the "last word"!:-)
Duals out the rear would be nice! I have always worried about the heat though...I like the dual outlets systems that exit to the right of the truck. It's 4th on my list of mods. Is your system much louder than stock in the cab?

Thanks for the information , I have not purchased a new set as of yet. I purchased my X from Hertz, It was a rental prior to my purchase. It has the Original Firestone Tires. I will bump up the pressure in the morning to 60 and see the results.

I am looking forward to sharing the results with my new friends. I will make sure to perform the test with as few changes in my routine to make it as accurate as possible. I will start with tire pressure at 60, and keeping rpm's below 2500, this is tough because the flowmasters sound so good.

The exhaust system was changed just behind the catalytic converter, which placed the muffler under the third seat. There is some resonance in the cab around 1700 - 1900 rpm. Otherwise the interior noise is increased, but not annoying. When I have traveled, I do purposefully set the cruise at a speed not in the above range to avoid the resonance. I would not recommend anything louder, like straights or glass packs, that would just be too much for a family man. My wife would certainly stay away, with the children, which would negate the purpose of the seating capacity.
I will try to report frequently on my findings in this stream. I am a Paramedic and work 24 hour shifts, every third day. This might make my responses slow, but I will attend to them ASAP.
Good to be here,

>I still can't seem to find a V10 badge with that link.
I also bought mine at ford parts online. But I also noticed one on ebay for $1.49 today. Just go to ebay and do a search on ford V10.
So far, the only thing I've had I liked as much as the X was my 1985 Land Rover Defender 90. No other SUV even came close.
I'll be lurkin' for a while to learn about stuff, but so far, I'm impressed.
Most excellent site.
Cheers all
