4R100 Speed Sensor

My truck just put up a code for the OSS, output shaft sensor, and I haven't been able to find online where it is located. Its a 4R100 connected to a 5.4 Triton and its a 1999. Anyone know where this is located? I've heard it could be somewhere on the trans housing, but was hoping I could get a more definite answer.

OSS is on the rear of the transmission on 2wd. On 4wd it is on the rear of the transfercase

Mine is a 4wd, is it located inside the rear of the transfer case or is it attached to the outside?
And if its inside, any tips on how to split the rear end off without damaging the housing? Or should I take it to a shop?

I would but the code disappeared after I shut the truck off and hasn't come back up since.

It's on the outside. Make sure the area is clean if you remove it. Are you not having any problems? Other than a one time code.

Alright. No the speedometer is all over the place and its shifting hard, especially from 1st-2nd.
