My CEL light came on and the code was P0715 - Input/Turbine Speed Sensor Circuit Malfunction. Where is this particular speed sensor located and is it easy to replace? I would appreciate any help I can get with this. I've been trying to find out about this for a couple of weeks but have had no luck.
Thanks much.
Assuming a 5R55E, the TSS is internal. Requires removal of tranny and partial disassembly to access. The 4R70W does not have a TSS sensor.
The TSS (Turbine Shaft Sensor) is used to measure the input shaft's speed. It's input is used to schedule shifting and to control EPC pressures for shift feel. With this fault code set, you are likely experiencing harsh or delayed/erratic shifting.
There are diagnostics including simple resistance checks that can be done to see if it is a faulty sensor, a wiring concern, or possibly a faulty PCM that is causing the code.
You will either need a copy of the service manual or will need to refer this to a qualifed shop.
