I have a 71' F100 and I want to get rid of my rear bumper and put a roll pan in. Has anyone done this? And if so where can I get one fairly cheap? Is it a bolt in deal or welded? Any input will be greatly apprecaited.
That sucks it puts stars where the name of the company would be because i have a 72 and i would like to put a roll pan on mine... maybe you can put the company name if you put like x's inbetween, or you just give us their website........ cuz i really want one also
The roll pans are available from many aftermarket companies-the best thing you can do is buy Magazines like Truckin', Classic Trucks, Custom Classic Trucks, and read the ads, get the catalogs and keep your ideas in a notebook. I used Mar-K, and welded it in.
The *** refer to companies that don't support this website which is a privately owned for profit (maybe) venture by a guy named Ken Payne, and every post costs him something.
I kind of understand where he's coming from (after getting him ticked at me over the whole censorship thing), but yet I feel for the companies also, I mean they have like a Gazillion advertising things coming at them, and yet this web site doesn't advertise in any of the magazines I read.
I got a roll pan from Mark-K. No problems from them. Just a hint on the install. I've done two installs now and I can give you a couple of hints. One, make sure twice that the pan fits both side to side and top and bottom. I've had to trim both of them on the sides and back side. No big deal. Take your time and it will come out great. When doing the final fitting, make sure the gate has clearance when hanging down. That will be the point at which the pan has to placed top and bottom. I made that mistake the first time. Had the pan welded in, looked great, but when I opened, it gate just touched the top of the pan. So I tack welded the second one while the gate was open. Thats all. Have fun and go for it.
I got mine from SirMichaels. Do a web search and you'll fine what you looking for. The weld-in style looks the best after final paint;I even had the my paint/metal fab shop make one for the front so I have no heavy bumpers slowing me down.
