Scored a pair of real nice chrome bumpers, front and rear, for my truck... but can't find rear bumper brackets for the styleside, only stepside pickups. Anyone have a source, any ideas?
try making your own from 1/4 inch steel. all you need is a torch a welder and a big drill for the holes. that is what i am goin to do for mine since my mounts rotted in half.
I found 60 acres of old cars and trucks not far from San Antonio... wandered around for 2 hours, looked at 50-60 old Ford trucks. And there it was... a '68 Ranger with a bent rear chrome bumper, but absolutely perfect brackets. I enlisted the help of good 'ol Miguel, and 2 cans of WD40 and 30 minutes with an impact wrench later they were mine.
$45 (all I had on me), includes the 6 chrome bumper bolts...
PS: I'll be unloading my current chrome front bumper (straight, needs rechromed) and the most definitley '60's step-bumper... pics are in my gallery, if you know anybody who's interested.
There was and probably still is some guy based in Canada that was selling the brackets for both step and styleside rear bumpers on ebay....check there....
They are new not used.... he sells repro chrome bumpers.....he sells the car style rear bumpers
MudinMan, yeah it was John's. Never seen the styleside on eBay, asked everyone selling bumper brackets on there and no one had them. The dirty 3 letter word company does not sell styleside brackets either.
yea that place is huge...and they got alot of trucks.......i have been there alot of times.....john is not the nicest man botu employes are prety nice....
It got dark and all I had on me was $45
Did I mention that I was going back?
MudinMan... I found John to tbe quite the opposite. He gave me the brackets, had his man remove them for me and rolled the sales tax into the reduced price (from $50 to $45), with a wink and a nudge... can't beat that!
