All new ignition components. Was running, then it quit. So I replaced all the ignition components. Still won't start, as in won't even turn over. Not sure where to look now.
Why would you replace the ignition components if it won’t turn over? That would be the solenoid on the fender, battery cables, starter or ignition switch.
Tune up, has plugs that look like there 40 years old.

because it was running rough and needed a tune up. Starter is new, solenoid is new, cables are new. It was a project that I bought to do with my son, as it will be his once its done. Everything that I could think of that would cause no spark I have either checked or replaced. That's the reason i posted on here, because I'm not sure what else could be causing the no ignition problem. It would turn over previously, but my son wanted to change steering wheels, and once he realized his steering wouldn't work he put everything back together, and I'm thinking that something in the ignition switch or column is somehow causing the issue that we are fighting now. But I don't know enough about ford to understand what in the column could be the issue.
Replacing all the ignition parts or anything without figuring out which part was to blame is going to cause you problems. New parts are hit and miss meaning you could replace a good part with a bad one right out of the box. Aftermarket distributors, ICMs and sensors are known to be borderline functional.
How far did he disassemble the column? Basically the ignition lock cylinder turns a rack that moves the ignition actuator and rod that in turn moves the switch (located on top of the column under the dashboard). There is a “sticky” titled 1997-1996 Tech Info in the ‘87-96 truck forum that tells you how to replace the actuator. Not that you need to replace that part but will tell you have to make sure the ignition parts in the column are lined up / timed correctly.
