My truck has the factory quad front shocks, but right now i have super lift shocks. I was wondering if anyone has just removed the rear shock up front (the ones attached to the radius arms)? Wondering if it'd make the ride a bit less stiffer and maybe let the TTB flex a bit easier. thanks.
Removing the two front shocks so it is not dual anymore will give you a smoother ride and flex a bit easier. It's up to you. I personally would leave the quad shocks. Thats only because I like to beat the hell out of my truck.
I have the quad shock arrangement on my Bronco. I recently replaced an old set of Monroe Magnums with Monroe Reflexes. According to Monroes site I would need the same shocks for the main front pair whether I was using the secondary front pair or not so my plan was to install only the main fronts plus rear, then try it out and see if I really needed the secondary fronts.
I ended up installing the secondaries as well because:
1 - the truck was too bouncy with only four shocks, maybe I was just used to six but to me the instability was very noticable with only four
2 - I noticed that two of the front shocks were by far the most worn, one of the main pair and one of the secondary pair were shot while the rears were still in pretty good shape, so I figured overall the wear rate will be more even if all six shocks are present
