Welcome to FTE!!!!

The PCM is in the firewall on the passenger's side. You will see a
huge connector going into it.....

EEC-V Location on 1995 Ranger?

All Rangers and Explorer's after 1994 have them on the top-center of the firewall, offset slightly to the passenger side.

1996 and older F-series had it on the driver's side under the dash by the emergency brake. 1997 and newer F-150 has them on the passenger side behind the kick panel while the 1999 and newer Super Duty has them on the driver's side.

If you need a photo let me know....

Would this be inside, or out? A pic would be great.

Thanks

Are you sure that it's a EEC-V on a 1995 Ranger not a EEC-IV? I thought that the EEC-V wasn't used till 1996. I think a sticker inside the engine compartment will tell you if it's OBDI(EEC-IV) or OBDII(EEC-V).

I'm confused on the EEC-IV vs EEC -V on the 1995 Ford Ranger as well. If it's the EEC-V, I should be able to use my normal code reader. However, as was said earlier, I have a Haynes manual and I think it's confused. 1996 is when EEC-VI became standard, So the location is either inside under the passenger side of the dashboard or outside on the firewall???

Some good new is that the manual said it was a OBD II, so it should be a simply plug on my normal, digital reader.

Welcome.

1995 was a transition year for Rangers, which is another way of saying that they are considered OBD-II (EEC-V) even though they are not "fully compliant". Because of this, some people with a '95 Ranger have had trouble pulling codes. Some OBD-II code-readers seem to work on them, some don't.

I believe you will find an OBD-II-like connector under the driver's side dash of your '95. It might have a little cover over it.

Try doing a search, you'll run across some other relevant threads on the subject.

thanx, Rockledge. I think you're right. I was under there a bit but probably not with upside down enough - on my back, unable to breathe with stuff flowing backwards into my sinuses, U know, the usual the required position!
