That does seem rational, but there is all kinds of stuff about these trucks that makes little to no sense.

Rhetorical questions ..................

Are there two connectors for the EGR valve or just one?
Can you run with an open hole on the top of your intake manifold?

Buy another EGR valve
Disconnect electrical connector of existing EGR valve
Connect electrical connector to new EGR valve
Wrap new ERG valve with shop towels
Lay new EGR valve on harness between existing EGR valve, intake elbow, and oil filter canister.

It limits the EGR flow to a small amount, essentially blocking it. The PCM still sees an EGR valve installed, although the intake thermal sensor shows that it’s not functioning.

To find a thread, you have to go all the way back to the 2003 2004 timeframe.

It works fine blocking the EGR flow on a 2003 engine, but their programming is a different animal than the later years.

so youve left everything else there in place and did the unplug the egr valve to disable it trick but plugged in another one to keep the computer happy. makes sense now.
