1956 F350 decode

Hello All,

I currently have two older Ford Truck 57 F100 and recently purchased a 1956 F350. I'm looking for get some decoding done on this truck, I think someone swapped a 292 Yblock into unit but not sure. I was hoping to get some decoding done.

Welcome to FTE. I'll move you to the correct forum for your '56-57 trucks.

F35 = F350 conventional

V = 272 2V LD Ford Y-block (292 not shown for '56 in trucks)

6 = 1956 model year

P = Twin City (St. Paul) Assembly Plant

16447 = Consecutive unit number (serial number)

Other numbers are labeled.

4syn transmission was probably the Warner T98.

~~The tag should be riveted, not attached with screws...~~. See below

My 54 and 55 data plates were attached to the glove box door with screws.

All 53-56 ford trucks the tag is attached with Phillips screws

In addition to what the others have said, we can also learn from your data plate that your truck was scheduled for assembly on January 10, 1956 (production code 10A) and was the 6447th truck placed on the schedule for assembly at St. Paul. You've got a fairly early 56. Unfortunately, the plate won't tell you if someone swapped the engine.
