Hi all. I found this old 64 f100 truck that I'm looking to buy but when doing research none of the title searches I use are able to use the VIN that the current owner provided me.
Here it is: F35CK555816
I looked it up and from what I understand it's an f350 from KC, and the last 6 digits would be its production number. But the thing that really has me confused is that, according to another site there were nowhere near 555,000 of this model made, so how can that be right?
They're offering it to me for only $500 so I figure it's not the end of the world if I've gotten duped but I just want to know what the deal is with this model.
The 1964 Ford Shop manual sez "Consecutive Unit Number", and lists the truck as being built in July, 1964. I guess it's the total number of vehicles built since... whenever. Would be a good question for Bill. "C" denotes 292 V8, it should have rams horn manifolds?
Hi all. I found this old 64 F100 truck that I'm looking to buy. According to the VIN, It's an F350. F100's have 5 lug wheels, F250's have 8, F350's have 6.
But when doing research, none of the title searches I use are able to use the VIN that the current owner provided me.

I looked it up and from what I understand it's an f350 from KC, and the last 6 digits would be its production (serial) number.

F35 = F350.
C = 292 2V
K = Kansas City MO Assembly Plant.
555816 = 1964, assembled June 1964.
*The serial number (last 6 numbers of the VIN) are consecutive for all 1961/66 trucks (includes 1961/66 Econoline & 1966 Bronco) beginning with #100,001 in August 1960.
1967/77 serial numbers begin with a letter, followed by 5 numbers. 1978/80 serial numbers begin with two letters followed by 4 numbers.

The '61 through '63 F-350's certainly have the traditional "front crossover" exhaust configuration on 292, 2bbl, engines, as seen on my '61 (below). If the '64 F-350 model was able to utilize rams-horn manifolds on a 292, I presume they must have relocated the steering box, which stands in the way of a left rams-horn manifold on my '61. During the '61 through '63 model years, I believe rams-horn manifolds were mostly found on COE truck models.
My truck is F35CE180244, manufactured June 1, 1961.
