Door hinge pin/bushing

I am currently replacing the door hinge pins on my 1966. I ordered pins and bushings from DC, it looks like there were originally no bushings in the hinges, is this correct? I plan on machining the hinges for the bushings and proceeding from there, but wanted extra comments as to weather bushings were in there from Ford or not.

the hinges were wire wheeled and I couldn’t see a bushing inside afterwards, but the pin looks like it fits, just worn from use.

I never had any success finding a pin kit for my 66 hinges. No bushings. I ultimately had a machine shop re-pin them with custom pins and the hinges machined to fit the pins. If you're capable of doing the machining and getting them aligned properly, you will probably need the bushings. It is likely the body of the hinge which is worn, rather than the pin.

They didn't have bushings. You'll want to get oversized pins and measure them, then get an appropriate sized drill bit and a reamer than is .001 or .002" bigger than the pin measures for a proper fit- just enough room for grease. A drill bit alone will leave the hole undersized. I used Dorman 703-273 pins for a Dodge ram, they're oversized and long enough.

I posted details of rebuilding them here-
