I have a 94 f150 5.0 5 speed and it has some problems with stalling, or nearly stalling when I am coming to a stop or take it out of gear. It also revs up to 2k rpms when first started and no accessories on. Not sure if that's relevant or not but thought I'd throw that in there. Sometimes it will just drop the rpms a lot and seem like it's dying and is very unresponsive until it recovers and when it recovers, the rpms seem to fluctuate +- 50 or so. The rpms also change strangely when reving the engine. They jump past where they are supposed to be, and then back off to normal. I did the fuel filter and pressure regulator as well as the IAC and after the IAC, it was fixed for a while. So the question I have is, do I replace the IAC again, or is something else the real culprit?
Damn straight start with the codes
Could be about a hundred things causing the stalling
Some not EEC related but check the codes first
Check the button in the middle of the distributor cap
Check the coil wire for corrosion.
Check the fuel pressure
Your tach could be the issue. Disconnect the green wire at the coil to test that (it is very uncommon IMO)
Ohm out the coil wire itself
Check for a shorting to ground rotor (black carbon tracking where the rotor slides onto the post)

Ok thanks for the advice. If I manage to get it fixed I'll post again on the fix. Seems to be a somewhat common problem with these trucks. Also, I forgot to mention that my abs light is on. I have read that leaks in the power brake booster vacuum lines can cause stalling when coming to a stop, so not sure if that is part of the problem or not.
Pull the ABS codes to see what is going on with that system. A vacuum leak will cause engine/ drivability problems but that isn’t going to cause the ABS light to come on.
Check for KOEO codes. Repair any active and stored codes from that test before moving onto the KOER test.
So I have been busy for a while and kept delaying testing the codes but finally got to it and it is giving me codes for automatic parts. Mine is a manual. These are the codes it's giving me:
637 654 621 622 629 626 624Any thoughts?
Has someone swapped out an automatic transmission for the manual that's in the truck?
What's the transmission code on your door tag?
The other possibility is that someone put an ECM from an automatic transmission truck into your standard transmission truck.

I didn’t address this before but the start up is normal. It will be high for a couple seconds and then drop to less than 1K. It could be a defective IAC. Did you use a Motorcraft part?
I sure would be looking for the correct processor for the trucks original calibration.

Just make damn sure it has no intake air leak before replacing a ton of other parts
