Thank you savage! You and WWhite have been tremendously helpful. I think my next steps are to put the truck back together to start testing pins to ECM as stated and find someone wiling to tackle the board repair. I'll update the threads as to what my solution is when/if I find one.
I had the same resistor burn up on my 1996 F250 7.5L E40D. The EEC was F6TF-12A650-AHA. I checked connectivity and it goes to pin 4 on the connector. This controls the ignition control module. I am replacing both the EEC and the ICM.
