I am wanting to add side trim to my 69 f100 long bed. I am starting my research now to hopefully install by spring. I understand that 68 and 69 are the same. I am confused by the front fender trim. Some sellers are showing a one piece fender trim and others with a separate "spear". I can't find any information on why this is. Could aftermarket be a one piece trim and original two piece (with spear)? Or maybe for different year? Also I am finding that sellers have 67 - 72 side trim molding. But we know that 67 is one year only and 70-72 is different because of the side light on the bed. Also, I am finding that the bed trim pictures don't look correct. The bed trim should have a contour in the back to properly fit. I thought finding the proper trim would be fairly easy but it has not been. Even Fordification is saying 68 - 72 trim is the same. Dennis Carpenter shows out of stock. Anyone have any experience or insight?
You didn't go done far enough to the Body section: Body Trim and Emblems - FORDification.com
It depends on the trim level and whether bright trim molding is requested.
There are 4 different styles of moldings. 67 is a 1-1/4 inch wide, 68-69 is a 1-1/2 wide, 70-72 is 1-1/2 but has a reflector on the bed, and of course the 70-72 woodgrain molding which is 3-7/8 I think. Of course there is the long and short bed variations. I have a 69 long bed. I have been watching for the molding set for for a couple of years. About a month or 2 ago NPD showed it to be back in stock. Dennis Carpenter still showed out of stock. I ordered it immediately. As soon as it arrived I discovered that one of the bed side moldings was several inches longer than the other. After a few moments I realized that the shorter molding was for a 70-72 (due to the reflector). I called NPD and explained the problem. They said they would look into it and call me back. About an hour later he called me and said he opened all of the packages and found all but one had the same issue. Normally they would make a customer send back the whole set but due to shipping cost and risk of damage they would send me a single molding. When the new molding arrived it was shipped in a PVC sewer pipe to prevent damage. NPD's Customer service rocks, which is why I buy form them and not DC. I have had several bad experiences with them (DC). I am kinda getting off track here. Anyway quality wise the moldings appeared just like the originals and I could not tell the difference, The bedside moldings have the correct radius on the back end. The fender molding is indeed made in two pieces, The spear part is joined to a piece of molding in the same way a hot wheels track is joined together. It comes assembled as one piece. I think it can be slid apart but I did not attempt it. This may be the confusion on the spear? All of the attaching hardware is included. As far as I know DC is the only one who makes the moldings so it won't matter who you buy from. Anyway I hope this helps. Call NPD and talk to them about ETA. Don't waste time calling DC. Once you receive them open them up right away and check them carefully. This should always be down but especially something made by Dennis Carpenter. Now if they can just get the bedrails back for the 8ft bed.

Reason: more info
Thanks for the NPD tip. Seems like you went through what I am doing now. Helps me and others a lot. I will contact them and update the results. As far as bedrail, Albuquerque Craiglist has one listed. Seller claims used but in very good condition.
